Costa Del Mar, Inc. is a manufacturer of high-end polarized sunglasses typically for use in water sports such as fishing, sailing, and surfing. The company was founded in 1983 and is currently headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida where they finalize their imported sunglass frames by hand assembling the lenses.

== History ==

Costa Del Mar was founded in 1983 after a group of fishermen could not find a sunglass that fit their needs, causing them to create their own sunglasses.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.costadelmar.com/inside-costa/about-us )〕 Later that same year, a NOAA nature sanctuary asked the company for a donation of polarized sunglasses. The first style of sunglasses released was called "Catalina" which used CR-39 plastic and had a lens made of the company's 400 glass lens. The "Catalina" model has since been discontinued.
On November 8, 2013, Essilor purchased Costa Del Mar through a cash transaction of $270 Million. 〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.costadelmar.com/inside-costa/press-media/essilor-international-finalizes-acquisition-of-costa-inc1234567 )
